Photography Arrangements


1. Photo procedure - Team photos (International Centre)

A schedule was provided to each region electronically. Also, a hard copy is put up for view at the photographer’s hall (International) The following dates have been reserved for the following photographs:

  • Day 0–Friday 3 Jan: All Tshwane teams as arranged by the Tshwane management from 14h00.
  • Day 1 Saturday 4 Jan – According to schedule provided to District reps.
  • Day 2 Sunday 5 Jan – According to schedule provided to District reps.
  • Day 3 Monday 6 Jan Finalisation of team photos The last day of photographing teams according to time schedule provided to District reps, If for some special reason ,your team has not taken their photo on day of your scheduled appointment, you may still be accommodated on this day .These teams must arrange a time slot with the photo coordinator (Cari Dykema)(only special circumstances.)

Please consult the official schedule for your time slot.

Teams that are unable to have their photo taken on the allocated day or time, must arrange another time slot with the photo coordinator (Cari Dykema) for a photo to be taken on 5 or 6 Jan latest. Only special circumstances will be accommodated. If a team member is still playing his/her chess game at the time of the photo slot, the team may come back for the photo once all team members have finished their games, but it must be on the same day as specified on the programme. If this is not possible, arrange for Monday 6 Jan. No team photo will be taken after 6 Jan after 14hoo or as per schedule. No absent person will be “photo-shopped” into the photo. If you want to be on the photo, be there please. The absent person’s name will be mentioned on the photo if supplied by the team manager. Otherwise the absent person will only receive a photo of the team.

No photos taken by 3rd parties for example parents, friends and managers will be allowed to be taken in the International Centre. This include photos taken by cell phone or camera or any other device. Only the official photographers will be allowed to take photos in the International Centre.

1.1 Process

  • The complete or almost complete team must be organised by the team manager before the team manager alone reports for their photo at the International Centre.
  • This is done at the official reporting station at the entrance of the International Centre
  • Teams can meet, remain on the lawn or gazebo at entrance and are not to gather inside unless they are called in as a complete team.
  • The team manager MUST please sign off on the names of the players on the photo. Also make sure of punctuation on the names. It cannot be done later in the process and is the responsibility of the manager.
  • The manager and coach of the team MUST please be indicated.
  • Send the names to the allocated photographer in Studio 1 or 2 for individual photo
  • Players must stand in board order
  • After the individual photo, the team will be sent to Studio 3 or 4 for the official team photo.
  • A number will be given to each person on the photos. The group photographer will remove this number once the team have been

1.3 Individual photos (International Centre)

In addition to the group photos, we will also be taking individual photos for you to remember this event. We ask that all players be photographed. Players must stand in playing board order. Parents and family are also welcomed to be included in a photo or two. These photos will be sold at the event. Please note that you are under no obligation to purchase an individual photo.

No photos taken by 3rd parties for example parents, friends and managers will be allowed to be taken in the International Centre. This include photos taken by cell phone or camera or any other device. Only the official photographers will be allowed to take photos in the International Centre.

1.3 Funny Face 2019

  • A funny-face photo will be taken directly after the official team photo.
  • A competition is to be launched for funniest “funny face” team photo. The winning teams will receive free prints of their “funny face” photo.
  • The winner of the funny-face competition will be determined by the number of “likes” for the photos – the photo that receives the most “likes” for the day will win. The “likes” will be counted on the official SAJCC - South-Africa Junior Chess Championship Facebook ,The photographers will also choose a best original funny face winner.
  • The days on which the competition will run will be 3,4,5 and 6 Jan.
  • Two (2) winners will be chosen for the tournament(one the Facebook winner and the second the photographers choice,
  • The competition closes on Tuesday 7 January at 18h00 for all 4 days of photography. The “likes” will then be counted to determine the winners on the original album on the SAJCC Facebook. (If there is a tie, shares will determine the winner)
  • At the prize-giving ceremony on 8 January, every team member of a winning funny face team will receive an A4 print with the compliments of the photographers.
  • The “funny-face” photos can also be ordered at the website www.photofoto.co.za or the photo booth as in the case of the individual photos.

2. Procedure of Ordering individual photos

  • On-line ordering: Visit www.photofoto.co.za and order photo’s online. Photos are loaded for the duration of the SAJCC. Watermarked images to be viewed on website.
  • On-site printing: is also done as per previous SAJCC

Ordering times for prints and e-mails (International Hall)

A computer with assistance will be set up in the International Centre. Ordering manually is possible as well as on site printing as in 2018.This service is available at the following times.

  • Sunday 5 Jan from 9h00 to 17h30 -Tshwane photos and photos taken on day 1 of teams and individuals in those teams,
  • Monday 6 Jan from 09H00 to 17h30 –Photos taken on day 1 and 2 and 3 and Tshwane.
  • Tuesday 7 Jan 09H00 to 17h30-Photos taken on day 1 and day 2 and Tshwane
  • Wednesday 8 January from 09H00 to 13h00 ordering (Print copies close at 11H00 for those leaving after prize-giving)-People staying for Wildcard can be accommodated from 9h00 to 11h00 with printing on Thursday morning 7 Jan.
  • We plan to move from International hall to prize giving Hall after 13h00 and will be available at prize giving Hall after 15h00 for outstanding collections till 15h30.It is your responsibility to collect either before one o clock at International hall or at prize-giving hall between 15h00 and 15h30.
  • Thursday from 09H00 to 18:00-new orders (only electronic copies and website order at www.photofoto.co.za)
  • 09H00 Friday 20 December from 09H00 to 12H00 (only electronic copies ordered directly and ordering of website at www.photofoto .co.za)

After these times photos must be ordered via website www.photofoto.co.za and will only be available in digital format.

2.5 Ordering process

  • Visit www.photofoto.co.za, order and pay for the photos online
  • Payment to be made after checkout. After payment is made, a notification email will be sent with your order receipt and you can download the photos from your profile on the website.
  • Printed copies can be collected from the International Centre
  • A computer with assistance will be set up in the International Centre to view and order photos. Printing done immediately or few hours later based on how many people is ordering then.
  • Payment: A card machine is available, or cash will be accepted.
  • The photo can be e-mailed and / or printed at the indicated cost.

3. Floor photos – (Playing halls), Doubles, Blitz and Simul with a Grandmaster

  • Photos of players playing in each round will be uploaded on the website www.photofoto.co.za with watermarks.
  • Only floor photos taken from round 1 to round 5 will be printed as an option.
  • Photos from round 6 and 7 will only be available electronically. The cost of the photo is R80 for a JPG electronic copy.
  • Orders can be made via the website.
  • Some floor photos will be loaded onto Facebook after each round to give an indication of the action going on inside the playing halls.
  • This remains a complimentary service. No player or parent or coach therefor is in a position to demand that a player should be or should have been photographed during rounds.

3.1 Cost

There is a choice between a printed 6x8 photo for R80 or, a JPG electronic photo that will be mailed to you for R80, or both for R110.
The printed photos can be collected at the latest on Wednesday 8 January as indicated previously.

4. Prize-giving ceremony

After the player received a prize the player and team must report to one of the two photo stations for a photo.
Parents are requested to respect the space and time of the photographers. A quick workflow must be followed to get through the prize-giving ceremony and photographs. Please do not take photos near our professional lights, as it often triggers our lights.

4.1 Ordering process

  • Photos with watermarks (of the prize giving) can be viewed at www.photofoto.co.za
  • On-site printing is also possible

5.2 Floor photos of the Wild Card and Interregional Tournaments

  • Photos of players playing in each round will be uploaded on the website www.photofoto.co.za
  • Orders can be made via the website.
  • Some floor photos will be loaded onto Facebook after each round to give an indication of the action going on inside the playing halls.
  • Only electronic photos of the Wild Card and Interregional Tournaments will be made available. The cost of the photo is R80 for a JPG electronic copy
